Working in the 2nd artstronautsclub-journal

This morning I was watching a couple of video's on The Artstronautsclub and got inspired by Teesha. Had to search for my collage-moleskine, feels like the last time I played in it was years ago.

Journal update

I really like my Midori Travelers Notebook! My current insert is filled with craftpaper. I have covered the outside with photo's and clear tape. When travelling 'light' I can take out the insert and leave the other stuff at home. (On the left my previous insert, on the right my current)

As you can see I am totally into photography again.... Taking my Lomography camera's with me everywhere! Most of the photo's in this journal are Lomo's.

Journal update: owly book

A couple of weeks ago I went to my favorite dutch island: Vlieland.

In my bag:
- Welcome home gifts (toys) for my friend Caatje's new cat: Peer. He is soooo cute!!! I was so busy admiring him, forgot to take pictures;)
- my owly-book... It's so beautiful, I was scared to ruin it. So I figured: if it's the only book/journal with me, I have to work in it....
- my phone... I think it's my first time ever to go to Vlieland without my photocamera! The Iphone is (most of the time) a good replacement.

The first page in this journal. Caatje told me to just ruin it (the first page) so I could get over this stupid fear...Well I did! And paste a photo on top and on to the next page;)

Some drawings in the appartment. I've stayed in this building before and (no surprise) all the appartments are decorated in Beach theme...

My mobile phone provider had lots of trouble...so no phonecalls the whole week! Lucky for me, I did have internet and a old fashioned payphone in the building.  (EDM challenge 42 - Draw something you are thankful for;))

Vlieland

Suddenly had the urge to visit my favorite island, booked a little apartment and went to Vlieland! (leaving man and cat behind, with lots of food, so don't feel sorry for them;))

Less than a year ago, the apartment had been sold to new owners so the furniture was new and had a nice beachy theme. I tried to draw some of it (two little statues of funny ladies were standing on the table)

Did only three drawings during my whole visit, took only a couple of photographs (less than a hundred, that's a new record!), did lots of reading, lots of walking on the beach and watching the ocean...

I did some social stuff too, visited my friends:
-F&N (met their newest cat: Mauwritz & got lots of doggie kisses from my two favorite islandpets)
-Caatje (who showed me all the artwork she made since my last trip to the island: very beautifull journals, collages, paintings. She's been very busy and I was kind of jealous;))
-and met with a colleague who was visiting the island too, with her boyfriend and their kids. (and was able to see some parts of the island normally not open for public thanks to them;))

As you can imagine, with such a busy schedule I didn't have much time for cooking and  lived on a very 'healthy' diet of french fries and pizza. Didn't want to eat that again in the next couple of weeks and guess what my lovely husband wanted to eat yesterday: french fries ARGHHHHH

I'm so glad I worked in my journal today... it's only one page, but it was the first in weeks

Some people draw their lunch/coffee, but why let it get cold;) Drawing the logo of the restaurant is okay too, don't you think...
After a delicious mochachino, I visited the Dunya Festival and watched the Battle of the Drums (about 8 Brassbands). It was great, but to dynamic for my drawing skills

Journal update

I have been working in my journal very irreguraly and it doesn't feel good... but somehow I just can't start...
(suggestions are welcome;))

anyway, here's some stuff i did made:

Visited Art Rotterdam and used some of the free stuff in my journal.

Below: bought Bister. Untill recently I never heard of it (it's old and not so many people use it anymore I think) but it's fun to work with and I've been using it for a couple of journal pages.

Made some eraserstamps for friends. Above (on the right) for Caatje's birthday. I used her artwork as an example. (visit her blog for more!)  Below (left) a stamp for my friend Loes. It's made after the logo she has for her company (she made it herself, check out her site). And below (right) a stamp to say thank you to some nice people with very good ideas (GoudaBruist).

Carving a stamp is real easy and after making all these stamps for other people, I tried one for myself. And that was the first one that didn't work out... I had been using pink erasers, but the last one I bought had teethmarks in it. I guess somebody thought it was a piece of candy;) So I bought a different brand after that for my own stamp. These didn't carve so well. (The stamp with 'monkiesmooiste' on it, is no longer with us;) Back to buying the nice pink ones and checking it for teethmarks!

Parade

Last week I went shopping in Rotterdam. I had to stop several times because there was a military parade. (the Marine Corps existed 345 years). They all had nice outfits and I took some photos so I could draw them at home. I felt kind of sorry for the old guys because it was really cold. But hey, they are though guys he?
