Mermaid Circus, Tam style mixed media pages

 

After doing the LifeBook lesson yesterday, I decided to use the same technique for some pages in my MermaidCircus journal

 

Used some dolls as a model

First draw the mermaid and the fish:

Neocolors:

Gesso and pencil:

Collage, matt medium, more gesso:

And some more pencil and neocolors:

Teesha style collaged mermaids

I've never been a fan of collage. Really liked Teesha Moore's collages but never liked making my own collages. Well...Mermaid Circus really changed that;-))

For this one I used the collage sheets we got from Teesha and copyright free images from a book

I've been working on the next pages for weeks...was really frustrated by them. I had this idea in my head: oh this page will be so and so...and of course it didn't turn out that way. I guess the reason for that was being new to collage...trying to copy things that look great but not knowing how to do it. But...I know that when I look back at these pages in a year or so, I will think: huh, why did I hate them so much? ;-))

I've been so busy drawing and making collages, totally forgot to post my work...;-))

 

I think this one is not finished, but I got stuck so I left her alone and am waiting to get unstuck....

 

An attempt at more collage...

 

And for this one I used some of the photos that never made it to a photobook....finally found a destination for those! (Will be collaging for the rest of my life if I want to use them all haha)

The second one is actually a collaged mermaid: her haid is a photocopy from one of my other drawings and her tail is part of a photo I took of a mermaiddress of Jean Paul Guiltier....

Love the instruction and inspiration videos in this class!! At this point I'm just copying Jane, Teesha and Tiphoni and adding a littlebit of me;-))

I am not a collage girl, but the purpose of doing these classes is trying something new... So i am not really happy with her hair but I try to be kind to this sweet mermaid....

Joined another online class: Mermaid Circus by Teesha Moore and Jane Davenport. (Already doing LifeBook 2013 by Willowing). For more info: see the buttons on the right...

The class started monday and I am now painting the pages of my mermaid journal. Not much to see or show so far;-)) And started two boards on Pinterest: mermaid & circus. That got me inspired! Had to do a quick sketch yesterday and dug up my fantasy sketchbook (did this one in 2 minutes alraedy in bed so don't expect to much;-)))
