Journal update: owly book
A couple of weeks ago I went to my favorite dutch island: Vlieland.
In my bag:
- Welcome home gifts (toys) for my friend Caatje's new cat: Peer. He is soooo cute!!! I was so busy admiring him, forgot to take pictures;)
- my owly-book... It's so beautiful, I was scared to ruin it. So I figured: if it's the only book/journal with me, I have to work in it....
- my phone... I think it's my first time ever to go to Vlieland without my photocamera! The Iphone is (most of the time) a good replacement.
The first page in this journal. Caatje told me to just ruin it (the first page) so I could get over this stupid fear...Well I did! And paste a photo on top and on to the next page;)
Some drawings in the appartment. I've stayed in this building before and (no surprise) all the appartments are decorated in Beach theme...
My mobile phone provider had lots of trouble...so no phonecalls the whole week! Lucky for me, I did have internet and a old fashioned payphone in the building. (EDM challenge 42 - Draw something you are thankful for;))
Beautifull walks on stormy beaches!

EDM 35 Draw a bicycle
Drawing something you use everyday should be easy, but this one wasn't easy... Drawing, erasing, drawing, erasing....till the point where you could see an imprint of a bicycle on my paper;) Finally I just painted the shape of the bike (frustrated artist;))

EDM 33 Draw an eye
Finally bought a scratching post for our cat yesterday. I've had cats before and I've made&bought scratching posts before, but never had a cat that wanted to use it.... So I thought it would be a waste of money, but I had to try something to keep Bob from using my chair for other things than just sleeping on it;)
He has been officially living with us for 5 months now (and visiting very often before that), but I've never seen him scratching his nails inside the house till a couple of weeks ago. Don't know why he started but he had to stop doing it!
So there's a brand new one in our living room and surprise, surprise: he is using it!!!! Not just once but everytime he sees it;)
( very stupid question: a cat can only use the scratching post for his frontpaws. How do they sharpen their other nails????? I've tried to ask Bob, but he didn't want to tell. Maybe he was angry with me for not using him as a model for this challenge...)

I used things related to our holiday in France for the next two challenges:
# 31 draw something you collect

And when your garden has a chance to grow and grow for three weeks...there can be some surprises when you come home;))

EDM 30 Draw a chair
Three weeks in France and only 5 new journal pages... Never thought I would ever say this, but I was too busy to draw;)
(will try to post some photos and videos here after thoroughly selecting and photoshopping...)
Did this one yesterday while waiting in the car. Had lots of paper around, but couldn't find anything to draw with (kind of funny after carrying all kind of art supplies in my bag for three weeks and doing almost nothing with it;)) Finally found a pen. Never used an ordinary pen for drawing but I liked using this one.
(will try to post some photos and videos here after thoroughly selecting and photoshopping...)

EDM challenge 29
Draw something architectural...
It was a rainy day when I started this drawing so I found a nice warm and dry place (the public library) with a view on some great architectural project in Rotterdam: the cube-houses or tree-houses.

I really thought the cube-houses would be easy to draw...stupid huh? I erased and erased and erased...at home I tried to use photographs (didn't work) and finally even made my own scalemodel using little woodenblocks and kneaded erasers...

EDM challenge 27
Draw a book
Yesterday we had some guests and cause it was getting late, the youngest slept a couple of hours in our bed. Last dec. my mother gave me some boxes with books she still had from when I was young (ages ago) so I knew I had a fairy tale book somewhere. The words and the tales were too hard for a 3 year old (I problaby read them myself when I was a lot older) and we made up our own stories with the pictures we saw in the book. Unnecessary to say he didn't sleep a lot;)
